Cascadia Hikes
When the Willamette Valley dries out each summer and the fragrance of nearby conifer forests perfume our city, we are reminded it's time to hit the trails. But why wait until summer? Our temperate climate lets us explore, year-round, the wild and scenic beauty that boarders Eugene on all sides. Cascadia Wildlands Project of Eugene has put together a group of hikes that pair our seasons with our ever-changing ancient woodlands. The majority are easy day-hikes that will acquaint and excite new-comers to Eugene's nearby wilderness, and will remind and reinvigorate old-timers of the need to protect our environment.

Oregon - Recreationists Against Thieves
Oregon has a serious problem. Recreationists Against Thieves (R.A.T.) is a group of concerned citizens, young and old, who have come together to fight theft, drug use, and vandalism that plagues our public spaces. Hikers do not feel comfortable walking national and state forest trails. Fishermen avoid parking at certain parks’ boat ramps due to the risk of break-ins. Bikers must lock down every part of their bike, lest they return and find it missing all detachable pieces.
